JDC599 (99) – Dennis Loline MK1 new originally to Middlesbrough Corporation. She was exhibited at the 1958 Commercial Motor Show at Earls Court and was bought by Middlesbrough Corporation who were attracted by the special design of the chassis, allowing a double decker with normal centre gangways to be low enough to pass under the Albert Bridge. The Group took this vehicle on in 1991 and spent several years restoring the bus at ICI Wilton Site. She is fully restored to her former glory but, out of respect for her age, of recent years she has only been used for occasional trips to local bus rallies and other gatherings but more often for educational and community interest activities. However, as part of the Group’s “bounce-back” from Covid, in 2022 she undertook a more extensive programme, attending no fewer than 8 local bus rallies, participating in a running day in Darlington, visiting the Arriva Depot at Stockton and undertaking two private trips out, one for a friend of the Group and one in connection with a street party for the late Queens Platinum Jubilee. She has been active throughout 2023, participating in a number of local events including supporting a number of Beamish Museum’s transport weekends.
